Why New York is a Great Place to Study Fashion
If you're thinking of studying fashion or working in fashion in America, no region offers more opportunities than New York City. Manhattan's Fashion District stretches across the better part of sixteen city blocks and is home to some 5,000 businesses, a testament to the importance of the industry to the creative and economic life of the metropolis. Fashion design is always on display, not only on the city's sidewalks and in the windows of its shops and boutiques, but also at the Museum of Modern Art, the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, which features fashion collections and exhibitions. In fact, the city is being touted as the possible future home of a dedicated Fashion Museum and Design Center.
