Students interested in criminal justice and paralegal education can study at John Jay College of Criminal Justice at the City University of New York, the New York Paralegal School, and the New York Career Institute.

The job outlook in legal professions for the New York area is good. Legal occupations are expected to grow 10.9% between 2002 and 2012, with jobs for lawyers projected to increase 11.6% and legal assistant and paralegal jobs expected to grow 16%. Jobs in protective services should also increase, with 8.2% growth projected for jobs as law enforcement officers and a 16.9% increase expected for security guard jobs.
