Baruch College offers a master of business administration in organizational-industrial psychology and other psychology degrees at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Psychology programs at the City College of New York include doctorates in clinical and cognitive neuroscience, as well as bachelor and master’s degrees. Columbia University and Barnard College have numerous degree programs in psychology. Marymount Manhattan offers a bachelor of arts in psychology as well as certification in substance abuse counseling and gerontology. New York University has departments of psychology, applied psychology and psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, all offering numerous degrees. Pace University also offers numerous graduate and undergraduate psychology-related degrees. Touro College School of Education and Psychology offers degrees in school psychology and mental health counseling, among others.
Psychology careers in New York are experiencing moderate growth in most areas, according to projections through 2012. Jobs for clinical, counseling and school psychologists are expected to grow by 14%. Community and social services occupations, which include many psychology-related jobs, are expected to increase by 17% overall. That includes growth of 4% for educational, vocational and school counselors; 11% for substance abuse and behavioral disorder counselors; 18% for mental health counselors; and 22% for rehabilitation counselors.
