About: Our interdisciplinary M.A. program in Environmental Conservation Education prepares graduates for environmental careers in the field of education. The curriculum draws on theory and practice to help students understand the role of education in solving environmental problems. The 37-credit program includes courses in environmental education, environmental thought, politics, and science; electives; and an internship. Electives allow students to pursue their interests in environmental justice, curriculum design, teacher education, ecology, wildlife education, youth education, or sustainability. Required fieldwork provides a unique urban experience in environmental education. Students take advantage of affiliations with Steinhardt's Science Education program, NYU's Wagner School, and New York City's resources to evaluate, develop, or implement educational initiatives for children, youth, or adults, or undertake applied research in environmental education.
